Soersce’s Birth Story
This was our first baby, and we knew we were having a girl. She was due November 26ish. I was bound and determined to have her early but she had other plans. The 26th came and went. We tried everything to get her to come to our world, but she just didn't want to have it. My sister was here with us and had to extend her stay due to a stubborn little baby. But all turned out well. At the 41 week Dr. visit, we had decided to talk about induction on Thursday December 6. We went to the hospital, I was feeling great, no signs of labor, nothing. We spoke to the nurses and Dr. and decided to go ahead. My cervix was still closed, but ripe and ready. He said I would be a good candidate and probably respond well.
The Cervidil tape was put in at 11:05 am and they monitored me for 1 hour. They said ok, go home and we'll see you when we see you. We went out for lunch. The surges started pretty much right when we got to the restaurant and they were about 5 minutes apart. They were quite manageable, but very different from anything I had felt previously. I was trying to be social and so forth, but I was changing from happy to unsure quickly. We went home and I crawled in bed and started listening to the relaxation CD's.
I was uncomfortable but again managing very well. The surges kept coming, around 2 minutes apart and were lasting around 40 seconds to a minute and a half long. At around 2:45, it appeared that the mucous plug had released, and I made an executive decision to go back to the hospital. I checked in went right up stairs and was monitored in the pre-birth holding area for probably 30 minutes or so, not really sure. The nurse came back checked me and said I was 3 cm and said ok, time to move to the birthing room. This was around 4:05 pm.
I got up and Jared was in front of me to support me and guide me to the room and just then I felt my water break. We got to the other room and I continued to listen to the relaxation cd's and Jared helped me breath, he did light touch massage on my arms and just talked to me and kept me calm. From about 5:00 on, the surges seem to be non stop. They were VERY intense.
The nurse came back to check on me at about 5:30 and I was 7 cm. I think it was about then, that I looked over at Jared and said, "ok, I think I'm about done with this." I was ready for pain management, but way too late for it. I held on. Together we got through it.
They decided to give an enema, because they said all the pressure I was feeling was stool. Right before the enema, I told the nurse I had a very strong sensation to push/bear down. That was the first time I knew that it was time to start breathing her down. However, they pretty much didn't believe me and said again it was stool. I took the enema, held on for a 5 minutes or so, and then told Jared that I had to go to the bathroom. I was in the washroom and had another surge, again, of a different kind. The kind that said to breathe down. I let out an "OH GOD", looked up at Jared, breathed through it and said the baby's here. I rushed from the washroom and got back on the bed. She was crowning. He told the nurses, and six of them rushed in, in a panic. I breathed her down again and her head came out, another breath, her shoulders and then body. It was amazing.

Our little angel came to us at 6:10 pm Thursday December 6. She was perfect. I did have a small tear. But I must admit, the "ring of fire" was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. The stitching up after was worse.
I am so grateful for the Hypnobirthing method. Soersce's birth was exactly what I had hoped for all along. Thank you Marie for all your help and support and guidance. We loved every second of it.
