I love how raw and real this photo is!
Labour - especially for a first time mom - is generally pretty long! (maybe even over days if you include the prelabour warm ups)
.
And, it’s freaking tiring!
Imagine working at your peak performance (say, running a marathon) for 15 hours straight and then just as you get to the end you’re asked to sprint at full capacity for another 1-2 hours (pushing babe out). It can be exhausting 😴
.
So... rest when you can, when pre-labour starts, try and sleep in between contractions.

And after - give yourself permission to rest and recover.

Who's planning on taking maternity photos? 🙋🏾‍♀️ 🙋
If Yes - Here are a couple tips from photographer Elisha Weger to help you prepare for your maternity shoot:
Maternity sessions are best done between 32-36 weeks, so timing tends to align with right when you could be feeling some discomfort.
At this stage in your pregnancy, you are literally glowing with the promise of new life, all the while maybe feeling not so glowing.
Maternity photography session lets you see just how beautiful you are.
Elisha says...
When you walk into my studio, I want you to feel every bit of goddess that you are.
It’s not just about feeling pretty or gorgeous—it’s about feeling powerful and empowered, and wise and strong.
💫Pamper yourself – don’t just allow yourself a couple minutes, really give yourself some you time to do what makes you feel pretty. Whether it’s aesthetic like getting hair done, or getting your make up professionally done, or whether it’s something like being in nature, or accepting a compliment – do something that actively makes you feel good about you.
💫Bring whatever you need – do you need snacks? Want to bring a coffee or special water or your favourite song? Let’s make this day special for you.
💫Don’t stress about an outfit – my studio has a variety of items we can use, and if you don’t go too stylized, simpler is better. A simple black or nude tank top looks great.
💫Get a pep talk – this one might sound silly, but it’s amazing how different your mind set can be if you ask a trusted friend for a pep talk. They will tell you everything you need to hear about how wonderful you are.
💫Cut out the negative talk – we can be kind of hard on ourselves, all while we’re doing something incredible.
.
💫This one is more of a life rule than a maternity photo tip, but be nice to yourself. Don’t say anything to yourself that you wouldn’t say to someone you loved or looked up to.
Allow yourself to feel beautiful – you are a goddess—fruitful and glowing. Let that inner Aphrodite out!

Advice from @elishaandcompany
What's a doppler? It's a handy little portable de What's a doppler? It's a handy little portable device used to listen to baby's heartbeat.
If you are close to your due date or just had a baby, the doppler will probably look familiar to you.
During labour, the nurse, midwife or doctor will use this intermittently to check on baby's heart rate to make sure that your little one is coping well with labour.
If there are other risk factors or any concerns, most likely they will opt for continuous monitoring (in birth videos if you have ever seen large elastic straps around the tummy that was the continuous monitoring)
